Construction work on Brentford Community Stadium and the associated new homes started in April and is now well underway. In order to connect utilities such as water, electricity, gas and telecommunications to the site, Brentford Football Club and EcoWorld London, the development contractor for the site (formerly known as Be Living), needs to close Lionel Road South, which runs from the South Circular Road to the M4 and A4. This has been approved by London Borough of Hounslow and Transport for London (TfL) and is expected to run from 2 July through to 21 October (although an extended period to 31 December has been allowed for in case of any delays). During this time, the road will be closed to cars, motorcycles and other vehicles but will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists.
The utility works, by different companies, have been carefully co-ordinated to all take place during this timeframe to avoid intermittent disruption over a longer period of time and to shorten the overall construction timeline.
During the closure to vehicles, traffic will be diverted via Chiswick High Road (A205) and Great West Road (A4), and via Kew Bridge Road, High Street (Brentford), Ealing Road and Great West Road (A4).
